Take Out – Joe’s Movie House

February 1 @ 12:00 am - 5:00 am

Synopsis of TAKE OUT- RATED R – Ming works as a deliveryman for a Chinese takeout restaurant in New York City. He’s behind on payments to the smugglers who brought him to the United States, and they’ve given him until the end of the day to pay them back. Ming borrows money from friends and family, but he still needs to make the rest of the money from his tips
The film is known for its documentary-style approach, which highlights the daily lives of people in America. It was directed by Sean Baker and Shih-Ching Tsou, and made on a low budget of $3,000. The film’s editing creates the feeling that Ming is stuck in a cycle of rushing between the restaurant and his delivery destinations.
Some say the film presents an unvarnished view of an immigrant’s experiences and leaves the audience with plenty of food for thought. Others say the film’s repetition adds to its realism, as it accurately portrays a day in the life of a delivery person.
